Spring Planting #2 & Did You Know?

The next step in my spring planting.  Here are my supplies planter, soil and geraniums.

The finished product.  When I was all done my daughter, Dawn, told me that it made her think of her Grandma Butler.  She always had geraniums planted every spring and they would all last well into the fall.

Did you know?

That you can grow celery from the root of a celery stalk?  I didn't either and then I read it somewhere on the internet.  I was skeptical, but what did I have to lose.  So I took a celery root and did what was suggested and just stuck it down in some dirt.  I choose a planter that didn't do so well in the move, I have been giving it some TLC hoping to breath life back into it.  It was quite huge when I moved it.  The result of the celery root was that in just a couple of days I could see leaves sprouting up from the center of the celery root.

See?

This is what it looked like today, after only a couple of weeks. I have planted some at work also, in our raised garden beds.  I can't wait to harvest my first stalk of celery.

Spring Planting, Part 1

Dawn and Tim have started a nice little rock garden at the entrance to there home.  I have been given the green flag to add a little color to it for the summer.

This is my first project for the spring.  I am going to repot a foliage arrangement that I received when Larry passed into a new pot.  I am placing it on the left side of the garage.

Success!
Next weekend I am going to tackle the other side of the garage.

Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs....Everytime

Just in time for Easter and all the hard boiled eggs everyone will be doing.  I thought I would give you all my no fail technique for hard boiled eggs.

Put your eggs in a shallow pan and cover with cold water.

Bring to a rolling boil.

Cover with a tight fitting lid and turn the heat off.

Wait 15-20 minutes and you will have perfect hard boiled eggs everytime.

Let me know how this technique works for you.

A Day @ Work

As many of you know I am a Chef at a  Hospice of the Comforter.  It is a 16 bed in-patient-unit.  So I took my camera to work with me on Valentine's Day and snapped a few pics.

It was not only Valentine's Day, but also Hank's Birthday!  He is one of many volunteers that make my work much easier on a daily basis.  He is wearing my present to him, a apron that I made just for him.

Trays set up and ready to go to patient rooms.

Hank doing dishes in the background and another view of patient trays.
More views of patient trays.

Today's lunch Chicken Parm with spaghetti and broccoli.  YUMMMMM!

Have a great day!   Carolyn

What Have I Been Up To?

Just in case you were wondering this is what I've been up to lately.

I've been getting my craft on!
I made 2 scarfs and sent them to the Ohio Special Olympics Scarf Program.  Volunteers make and send them to the state of your choice, then the Special Olympics distribute them to the Olympians.
I made a Sock Monkey Blankie and Hat for a special NEW family member.  (Don't look Sandy and Adam, it is in the mail on it's way to you)
This is a beautiful table runner that I made, it has ribbon running through it.  Look for it in my Etsy Shop
This is a afghan that I am making for a friend at work.  She started it then I volunteered offered to help her out and make it for her.  I just love the colors, now I have promised to make and send 1 like it to Tom in Ohio.
.....and did I mention that I am moving?  By next weekend I will be all moved in with Dawn and her family.
So, that's what I've been up to!

Mckenzie's $6.00 Dress

One day I was looking around the internet for a craft to work on.  What I came across was this adorable bandana dress. I just knew that Mckenzie would love a dress like this.  So I headed out to buy my supplies.
I found a $4.00 shirt at Walmart.......

......and 2 red bandana at $1.00 each
I cut a circle out of the 2 bandanas, that I had folded together.

I then sewed the shirt to the bandanas,,,,,,and got one happy little girl! (For only $6.00)
